Market Shopping - Dushanbe, Tajikistan
This is the railway market in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. I think you can take a guess how it got the name "railway market". It is open on weekends and here you can find a wide assortment of items ranging from fresh fruit and veggies to auto parts. If you look closely at the assortment of auto parts there are some bottles. This is engine oil and gasoline. Filling stations are hard to find and don't exist outside Dushanbe. Gasoline is sold by the plastic water bottle and instead of signs advertising your local Petrofina, Exxon, Agip, etc - when you are driving in the countryside you will see these bottles lined up on fences etc. at the side of the road - this is the local filling station. The quality is suspect and maybe that is why automobile engines don't last very long here.
